Blame Chris Kaman, Says Elton Brand
Injured stud Elton Brand is not happy. First, he's injured. Second, someone on the Los Angeles Clippers staff actually asked him if he was on steroids after his ACL got torn during a workout earlier this month. (He says no, rather emphatically.) Third, Chris Kaman -- who was playing 1-on-1 against Elton Brand when the injury happened -- is claiming victory due to TKO even though Elton was up 4-0 when his leg popped.
Yes Los Angeles Clippers fans, one more thing to blame Chris Kaman for. From TJ Simers' Los Angeles Times column:
"We were playing the best of five, I had won the first two and was driving for the winning score in the third game, but they didn't call the foul and he came back to win that one," Elton Brand said. "But I was up 4-0 in the next game and driving to the hoop, when bam, like the sound of a drum," his Achilles' tendon ruptured.
Elton Brand also says the injury first crept up in February, but Elton Brand stayed in the lineup as the Los Angeles Clippers pushed for the playoffs. (By the way, Elton Brand has missed all of five games the past three seasons.) The Clips knew he wasn't 100%, which makes the steroids line of questioning all the more bizarre. Elton Brand gets off a choice quote about the "misunderstanding," though.
"I am not trying to go all Kobe on the staff, but to be asked that question when all facts were (known)...was very disappointing to say the least."
