Kobe Would Like You to Enjoy Some Champagne, Please
Our (half) sister (by marriage) site TMZ.com has a dispatch from Las Vegas, where Kobe Bryant dropped some cash to apparently one-up some poker player.
Kobe Bryant and his wife, Vanessa, were at Friday night's grand opening of BLUSH Boutique Nightclub at the Wynn in Las Vegas, when he saw poker player Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari kick in for two bottles of $1,400 Cristal champagne. [...] Kobe ended the competition when he purchased an astounding 15 bottles -- and then left the club!
Should we take this as a God, these players make too much money, they don't even know what to do with it thing or a That Kobe Bryant, what a charitable chap thing? I didn't get the memo on how we're supposed to feel about the NBA today... is the forecast no-good thugs or true American patriots? Someone let me know.
(While we're here, Kobe's agent Rob Pelinka hung out his own shingle. Steve Reaven has a good story in the Chicago Tribune regarding such. That's a wild client list -- Kobe and Carlos Boozer have fat contracts, Chris Kaman went big last summer, Gerald Wallace got a big deal and Andre Iguodala's is right around the corner. Maybe Rob should be purchasing the champagne?)
